The Fuckin Godoys

“The show kicked off just after 7.30pm with the unforgettable support act, The Fuckin’ Godoys. Jack White may have indulged in playful myth-making with the brother-sister conceit of early White Stripes, but there was no mistaking the shared DNA of the Godoy twins, Art and Steve.

Very few audience members would have known about the Godoys’ long history of collaboration with Birdman guitarist Deniz Tek. When the twins opened their set with the Ramones-like ‘Let’s Go’ from the Glass Eye World album that they recorded with Tek under the band name The Golden Breed, most of the audience took an involuntary strep backwards, perhaps wondering if these ebullient maniacs with matching tops, trainers and sleeve tattoos were about to launch an inverse stage invasion.

With a history as pro-skaters and tattoo artists, the Godoys could never be described as shy and retiring, and their bellowed vocals were of the football terrace variety so beloved of Sham 69 and The Skids.

The Dunfermline group were name-checked by the Godoys, along with The Rezillos, the Edinburgh band who were scheduled to share a bill with Radio Birdman on their first, ill-fated trip to these isles, back in the 70s.

The Godoys’ idiosyncratic instrumentation- Steve’s energetic surf-punk drums driving Art’s chorused 12 string Di Pinto electric- is a departure from the bluesrock template of the current glut of guitar & drums duos, and there was no doubting that classic 70s Brit-Punk is their main inspiration.
‘Glass Eye World’ closed the twins’ high-energy set, which would surely go down a storm at the UK’s main punk festival, Rebellion.”

We have been recognized globally for the marriage of skateboarding and tattooing lifestyle and it was VERY noted as recently as the Finale episode of “The Voice” (air date- May 24, 2016) where Pharrel Williams was wearing a Godoy tee shirt. He asked us to sign an artist release for permission to wear that shirt ‘on-air’ prior to the shooting! That’s a big deal.

EXPLODING FUCK DOLLS – ‘CRACK THE SAFE” RELEASED ON DISASTER RECORDS/BOMP.
Because Duane Peters was our singer after we pulled him out of the gutter in 1991..his music career was kickstarted. After the Fuck Dolls split, he formed a record label with Bomp Records and released a 22 song CD featuring all the E.F.D. hits form years prehis collaboration with us and post…Art and Steve Godoy are the the original members, founders and copyright owners of this material. The CD sold incredibly well up until the label folded.

The Last of the Bad Men was formed by Art and Steve featuring Deniz Tek on lead guitar (Radio Birdman’s founder) whom they recorded albums with and played as his touring rhythm section since 1992…2 CDs were released…one called -”Nowhere is Safe” which was out on Long Live Crime Records…(Sony Music/Koch Distribution) we bought our rights back after shady dealings with them and released it on our own label D.H.D. Records division. The second release was called ‘Ride’..as well on our D.H.D. Label..this band toured the USA for the 3-4 years of its lifespan.

We formed a two man band called the Black Ladybugs…a theatrical power punk group featuring red face paint, prosthetic teeth and goggles…accompanied by an elaborate choreographed DIY lightship..and super funny videos!!! released a cd, did a mini Canada tour/ Las Vegas show and had some great merch… not enough immediate interest was accrued so the band was scrapped and left with amazing an aftermath of great memories and videos to prove it, all done DIY within ONE YEAR!

CDS and shirts still available.
We, The Godoys were offered a clothing / Pant line from Dockers (Levis) which we accepted…sadly it was dumped due to its instability with keeping presidents and it only produced some really nice and stylish
samples after which never saw the light of day. The failure of the collaboration was due to the company having 3 presidents in a year. We could have been what they needed to break out of the court, funeral
style clothing stereotype they offer.

We were featured on Scene TV raw – an online punk rock/ skateboarding channel.
